The palm project (Italy, 2022)
Ispired by an Instagram challenge that my friend Tiziana told me about, consisting in drawing 100 faces in a week as a way to improve the drawing style and train the creativity muscle, I’ve decided to do something similar with my favourite drawing subject ever… which are palm trees.
I’ve been drawing palm trees since when I was a child, more or less in the same shape and position, and this project has been a great opportunity to improve. And to dream of tropical landscapes all the time..!
You might notice that I didn’t finish the project within one only week, and that I didn’t reach the 100 drawings. After number 82 life distracted me with other things to do, and I lost the flow.
To be honest I tried to force myself to re-take it and finish it after some months, but I felt like I wasn’t able to draw palms anymore. Well, drawing should never be forced. So let’s accept the project the way it is, with these 82 palm trees I’m quite proud of!
