Au coeur du Causse (France, 2021)

Causse” is a French word to define a limestone highland surrounded by rivers.
Because life has developed mostly down at the rivers level, most causses are very special places: wild, high, dry; a few villages scattered here and there, and powerful energy all around.

I was in a “drawing houses” mood lately, so I decided to take the opportunity to connect with the three causses I had nearby: I went to each one, chose five villages and looked for the prettiest house to draw. Tough task, since all of them are beautifully built with local stones and are well integrated with the surroundings.
Also, I had the strong temptation to just take pictures and draw at home, but I managed to resist the call of the comfort zone and I ended up doing all my sketches on site, right in front of each house.

I used my digital tablet for the drawings, painted watercolors on paper and then merged it all digitally.
